Bio from Crystal Starnes (edited by author)
While employed in the criminal justice system, she filed a sexual harassment and abuse case against her employer and judge in October 2017, shortly before the details of the infamous Harvey Weinstein conduct became public. Her decision to bring the case demonstrated a courageous effort to disclose official wrongdoing. Ms. Starnes, a resident of a small Western Pennsylvania rural community, suffered astounding ostracism and unwanted notoriety because of her decision, but also gained respect and support from others in the community for revealing the story. Ms. Starnes persisted in protecting her own rights and the rights of victims. Ms. Starnes won her case. Her case created new case law for future litigants.
Ms. Starnes is the wife of a retired probation/parole officer and a mother of two daughters.
Her husband and she own Voice For Victims LLC. Its mission is to help people out there, who are suffering in silence, to know that they have a voice and will not be afraid anymore.
Ms. Starnes has multiple podcasts and one TV show. She is also an actress.
