Support Our #creatives® News: On the Set of June Daguiso’s Projects “The Road to Absolution” and “Pagtubos,” June 22, 2024

On June 22, 2024, Randy Greenstein and I were on set for two of June Daguiso’s projects “The Road to Absolution” and “Pagtubos.” Randy and I are executive producers on both projects, and we will also be on screen with scripted lines in both projects. We were in a courtroom scene in “The Road to Absolution” and in a hospital scene in “Pagtubos.”

The filming location was at Andrée M. Harris’ It’s a Wrap Studio in Bel Air, MD. I did a blog post about the studio on April 27, 2021. You can read the post here.

For “The Road to Absolution,” there were other scenes filmed besides the courtroom scene, which Randy and I were not in: a jury room scene and a jail cell scene.

Prior to filming commencing on the courtroom scene, there was a run-through of the entire scene. As for the filming itself, there were multiple cameras/mics being used simultaneously. There were a lot of individuals in this scene, as one would expect: the judge, jury, defense and prosecuting attorneys, defendant, bailiff, and witness. One thing I was requested to do was to perform all my lines in a row, captured by a single camera. This will permit the lines to be inserted at their proper place in the scene during editing, if needed, for that particular camera angle. But I also performed my lines interacting with the rest of the participants in the scene. As is typical, filming within the scene was sometimes done out of sequence. By the way, I literally ignore the camera(s); I face a direction based on how I have to interract with other people in the scene, and there was a lot of that!

What follows are some photographs I took during the shoot. Unfortunately, there are no photos associated with “Pagtubos.” The first trailer for “The Road to Absolution,” released on July 2, 2024, is also viewable below.
