Danielle Earle is a director of “In the Attic”, one of four plays making up The Voire Dire Project.
The Voire Dire Project is the signature production of Cosmic Orchid, and this first cycle punctuates our inaugural season. It is an integrative project where four theatrical teams (playwright, actors and director) each develop a one-act play inspired by a separate work of visual art. It culminates in a 4 week production of those plays with a corresponding exhibition of the art that influenced them. – From Cosmic Orchid website.
Gillian Scott-Ward’s film, “Back to Natural”, was featured at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival.
Back to Natural is a 69-minute documentary film that reveals the shocking truth about hair politics, and racial identity in Black communities and beyond. Directed by New York City based Clinical Psychologist Gillian Scott-Ward, the film was inspired by the work she was doing in her clinical practice and her own drive to go natural. Executive produced by Marquis Smalls and produced by Dominic Ward, Back to Natural is a powerful call for healing that takes a grassroots approach to exploring the globalized policing of natural Black hair. – From “Back to Natural” website.
“Back to Natural” has also been shown at the Mzansi Women’s Film Festival (South Africa), and will be screened at the British Urban Film Festival and the International Black Film Festival in Nashville.
